SEO strategy overhaul saving retailer X £36,000 from budget
A much misunderstood and continually changing part of e-commerce, I have seen on quite a few occassions companies coming into small businesses and almost hoodwinking them into SEO services which are either “black hat” (ie Google does NOT like them) or simply would never be effective for that business. My own personal philosophy for SEO is simple – build a brand which engages with your audience. If you look at how you build your online presence this way then you should improve your SEO.
For this retailer I reviewed their costs and what they were spending with each supplier only to find out they were spending £3,000 a month with an SEO company who were providing backlinks into the site from 3rd party companies overseas in the Philipinnes and Malaysia. Now firstly, Google does not like this kind of link building however on this occasion, the links were coming from sites not relevant whatsoever to the products the company were selling.
